Folks, SFS still has a couple of AP classes but this is the last year or two they will be offered. What is bizarre is why they would indicate a higher weighted rating for AP classes than their own Accelerated/Advanced courses. I thought the main rationale for getting rid of APs was that SFS’ own accelerated and advanced curriculum provided so much more depth than AP and of course college AOs recognized this. Another lie to go with the general lack of transparency for parents and students about the SFS academic profile sent to colleges with transcripts - not very Quakerly.
I think this chart others have provided is just some generic guideline to help parents to re-calculate a weighted GPA. It's a bit silly though, given it doesn't really reflect their courses. Personally, I'd take the any of the AP or IA courses and add a point. But even doing that wouldn't help make my child's GPA comparable to a public school with tons of AP and honors because there was never an opportunity to take higher humanities. But it would help re-calc GPA to compare internally for rigor....but that's useless since we have no idea what others' weighted GPA's are internally.
