I wonder what he does for her.  He talks endlessly about himself and his projects, and he's not any more involved as a parent than she is, so it seems.  At least he has some goals, I guess, but Cate's not really a part of them.  They do really seem like roommates.  They've been together since they were 12 and their relationship hasn't evolved.  It (sort of) reminds me of a good friend who married a man she had been dating since 9th or 10th grade.  They seemed to have a good relationship, but in college, there was a lot of drama that seemed very immature.  They got divorced after about 5 years of marriage and have both remarried to very nice people.  Our circle of friends is still together and it's clear that they both needed to be in grown-up relationships, which they weren't in when they were together.  Tyler and Cate need to either mature their relationship, or move to to amicably find other partners that share the same interests.  Like, sitting on a couch, or pretending to ride horses.[/quote]
