This is interesting about the changes in flight paths that this group spearheaded for Mount Vernon and Accokeek. https://www.flyreagan.com/sites/flyreagan.com/files/2025-10/DCA%20Community%20Working%20Group%20Recommendation%2030%20Revision%202.pdf
The is no benefit for Mount Vernon. Quite the opposite. Alexandria is the only place that benefits from these changes.
Are you slow? Page 8 quite literally shows that the flight path in north flow is being shifted from straight through Mount Vernon, to between Belvoir and Mason Neck. Mount Vernon therefore gets completely avoided in North flow. Also Mount Vernon is part of the unincorporated part of Alexandria.
North flow arrivals were never a problem for Mount Vernon. The noise from south flow departures is much greater. The airplanes departing DCA will now go all the way to Mount Vernon. They used to turn over Alexandria. They will now turn west over Mount Vernon. This change is being spearheaded by Alexandria. You must be one of those people who calls us slow, deranged or OCD and tried to spin things. You must be on the Community Working Group at DCA.
That person calling you slow was highly unnecessary. That being said, my brother in Christ you are painfully uninformed. Please see the attached link which depicts North Flow arrivals: https://www.flyreagan.com/sites/flyreagan.com/files/legacyfiles/dca_north_flow_regional_05aug2015_hoch_18aug2015_1.pdf The flight path quite literally goes directly through Mount Vernon. After heading south east, slightly past Kingstowne the flight path jogs straight down through Mount Vernon. It goes through Huntley Meadows, then through Woodlawn, then crosses Route 1, then over Mount Vernon Country Club and Geist Mill Park, and then hits Dogue Creek before continuing south to the Maryland. I’m not going to argue with you, as this this isn’t up for debate — It is quite literally a fact that it goes directly Mount Vernon. As far as how much noise Mount Vernon experiences — this is more subjective, but I can tell you that in my opinion it can be significant directly under the North Flow path.
