Looking for an academic edge (over others, though they don’t say the quiet part aloud) is why some parents do it for school. [/quote] The rationale of one of the parents quoted in the WaPo article is literally just, "Since he’d be the youngest child in his class, having an extra year would be advantageous to his development." That's it. Just being older to get an advantage. (And of course some other kid is the youngest now.)[/quote]
