I've always thought the same about Randall. He wants to make his parents happy as a kid. As an adult, he wants to make his wife and kids happy and be as perfect for them as he perceives his parents were for him.[/quote]

There was a very touching episode a while back after Randall found out that Rebecca had known his bio dad all those years - where Randall & Rebecca both explored/discussed their mutual feelings about always worrying about being "enough" for one another.  She confessed that she was afraid of losing him if he met his bio dad and he talked about how he felt a constant need to prove himself worthy bc he had been abandoned.  It was one my fav episodes....so raw, honest and heartfelt.
