Late Night television is dead. Even before this month's kerfuffle, it became clear that ratings for all of them are collapsing. No one watches live television at midnight anymore. And there's not enough money in clips that go viral to make it worth it to continue with this format. I don't think any contracts would have been renewed regardless.

Podcasts are todays late night tv. And Smartless is the modern equivalent of The Tonight Show, for better or worse. Then you have Conan and Amy Phoehler with their podcasts and it's basically like the old days - but much better. [/quote]

My routine when I was commuting was usually to listen to The Daily Show, Ears Edition in the morning. I know others who listen to Stephen and other late night hosts on podcasts.[/quote]
