Welcome to planet Earth.  Here every country that has ever been a world power goes around thumping its chest declaring they are the best.  Show me a country who doesn't.  I challenge you.  I've lived in 6 countries, and ALL, even the ones that have never been world powers go around with pride thumping their chest as you put it.

DP here. I don’t think people have sufficient experience or knowledge to see that every country has plenty of dirty laundry. I don’t fall into the trap of “US is best” but, given the countries I’ve lived in, it’s definitely not bad.

People should make their own choices clear eyed and without the hyperbole. Moving to a different country is perfectly fine and normal. In my view, OP should prioritize staying with her kid. It would be crazy not to do that. Take the longer view and don’t react so strongly to temporary situations. [/quote]
