So now rescues are shipping dogs from South Korea build their inventory. And you're trying to tell me that rescuers are a nonprofit centers? All they see are the $s they get from selling more dogs. We do not need more dogs shipped into our country just so a rescuer has a bigger Inventory of dogs to sell. We have enough dogs in this country. We don't need to go to other countries.
You are 100% correct. I feel SO bad for these dogs and hope for a ban on dogs for food. I don't know what to say, we keep shipping in dogs from other states and countries and there are not enough homes for them here! Our local "rescues" can't find foster homes, they beg and plead for someone to take in "new dogs that just arrived from North Carolina". This woman on our neighborhood facebook page needed to rehome a dog she had inherited due to valid reasons. NONE of the local rescues returned her calls or emails and then some would not help her. Said rescues were basically shamed into helping her and only did so by listing her dog on their site. (She finally found a home for her dog) Yet, these same rescues then go and get dogs from other states!? They are "non profits" that end up selling the dogs for $$, they get the tax benefits of running a non profit in their homes and get to write off their acreage and yet don't help the dogs in their own towns. I feel so let down by rescues now and see them for what they really are, money making ventures. I suppose they are the smart ones, they found a loop hole!
If you think rescues make money why don't you prove it? Do you think dogs should be given away? Dogs are expensive and if get something you know it isn't valued.
Does $800 an up for a dog sound like a reasonable amount for a rescue to charge? That is not an adoption fee. That is flat out selling.
That's how much a breeder can charge. It makes no sense given they are non-profits and get donations, tax breaks, grants and more. The goal is to have a home for the dog so give them for free given the recuses get them for free.
That is how much breeders charge. So when I’m looking to get a dog, I think do I pay $800 for a puppy from a breeder where I will be getting a puppy with whatever breed characteristics I want. Or, am I going to pay $800 for a rescue and take a gamble on issues? I’m going to pay the breeder $800. But, I would more likely be willing to get a rescue if it wasn’t the same price as a breeder. I don’t think they should be free. I’m aware there are expenses, but many of these rescues have gone overboard. and that is where they’re making their money. Tax benefits, and who knows how much they make us each dog.
Let's face it you wouldn't adopt from a shelter. Which is fine. But, did you know that some months shelters will waive the fees of the pets? People do not work here to make money. Stop the lies.
Shelters are not rescues. Tax breaks = making money.
They are doing good so why shouldn't they get tax breaks. Do you believe churches also get tax breaks?
I don’t think any of these should get tax breaks.
I'm sure you will get that rule changed pronto!
