Like BBQ and which way are you driving in from?
Yes! Coming from DC.
Calhoun's BBQ is pretty nice - good bbq/beer. Straight down 81/40 by Knoxville.
Calhoun's is a local chain, and not a very good one. If you want BBQ there is Sweet P's. You can go to the original location on Mayville Pike or the one downtown on Jackson. It has been on Man Vs Food and is very good. If you go to the location on Jackson, you will be close to Market Square. In the winter, Market Square has an ice rink in the center of the square, lots of stores get festive, and there's some kind of entertainment on weekend evenings. You could even stay in the Oliver Hotel on the Square as well (they have a nice bar called the Library). Market Square is also next to Gay Street, which has more shops, cool theaters (the iconic "Tennessee" sign), the Downtown Brewery. The other side of Market Square backs up to the UTK campus. There is a Hilton Garden Inn at the university that is 2-3 years old and seems pretty nice.
