My boss's daughter went there. She was a B-/C student so wasn't in the running for an academically challenging school. But, she liked it and she graduated on time. My impression was that it has a wide range of students, from very strong honors students to pretty average full pay students to make up the numbers.
This must be very old info. There is no way a sub-3.0 student is getting into Tulane these days.
I agree, Tulane is not looking for B-/C students these days. They do offer great merit if you have good grades, show interest by visiting and attending home school visits by admissions staff, and have very good extracurriculars I think they really like kids who have lots of community service because its a big focus of the school post-Katrina and there is a community service requirement for graduation.
Thanks! This is great information. We will definitely make a point to show more interest. He is looking into their political economy program. He is also looking at Georgetown but it's good to have backups. For an idea of where he falls he is 3.85 UW GPA from a top suburban HS, 2160 SAT, NMSF, Asian.
