I agree with this but it won't stop stupid people from commenting about your older child's good looks in front of the other, especially since the older one is a girl. You will have to keep a few deflecting phrases at the ready. Someone more creative than me can suggest some.[/quote]

If they genuinely aren't going to pick up on it, I'd either ignore it. Or if feeling spunky, I'd say something to the adult when the kid's walk away such as "By XYZ, did you mean what I think you meant?" If the kid hears the comment and it's offensive I'd look at them straight in the eye and say "Excuse me? Do you want to rephrase that?"[/quote]
