Help! My friend isn't registered, but I'd love to get her something nice. The couple is in their 40s and make a good salary, so they have lots of household stuff. She's fun, likes music, going out, dining. It's a shower gift, so I was originally thinking of keeping budget to $50, but if it's a great idea I could go higher (or save idea for wedding).
Why is she being thrown a shower, then? The whole point of a bridal shower is to "shower" the bride with gifts that she will need to set up house--sheets, towels, kitchen gadgets, pots and pans... If the couple already has that stuff, and couldn't even be bothered to register for a few fancy gadgets and picture frames, there's really no point to the shower. I'm very happy for my friend and excited to celebrate with her. In any way she wants. Celebrate with engagement parties, bachelor/bachelorette parties, etc.---but a shower makes no sense in this case. I wouldn't go.
