It is gaslighting when you say "I want an apology" and you get it (acceptance speech + visiting White house graciously) and then you say "nope... that isn't enough! you should have done something else or something different." Gaslighting: manipulate (someone) by psychological means into questioning their own sanity

The right says "I want secure boarders and for everyone to obey the law"
The left says "you are racist! You are a xenophobe!" ( riot, burn stuff, smash other peoples private property) "if you (the right) showed me some understanding and feel my pain I will stop burning stuff and stop hating you!"
The right thinks Am I crazy? I'm not a racist? 
The right says "Lets work this out.... you know we can keep the good stuff in Obama care... Maybe we not need to build a wall..."
The left says "I can't be your friend on facebook and I can never talk to you again"
The right thinks Am I crazy? I thought they said hey wanted me to be aware of their pain and understand them.

I think the OP understands gaslighting
