FYI- PGCPS has implemented a new background check policy. If you are going to volunteer more than once at the school or for any field trip you need to be fingerprinted and have a Child Protective Services background check. The commercial background check is not sufficient for Field Trips any longer. I went to the fingerprinting office today and the whole process took 1 hour. There is a waiver of the fingerprinting fee for families who qualify for free and reduced lunch. Nothing has been updated on the website and may principals are only learning about it now.
A few years ago my husband and I did both the fingerprinting and background check which is good for our children's entire time in PGCPS. Not trying to be flippant, just trying to make sure I understand. We now have to go back and get a different background check? Thanks for posting this info because when I heard someone mention the CPS background check they never clarified that the previous check was "commercial" and is no longer sufficient.
I think that the previous fingerprinting is still valid. I have a call into the fingerprinting office and will ask when they call back.
