My mother came to visit and I found an AirBnB near my apartment for her to stay in as we don't have a guest room and she wanted somewhere walkable (not possible with local hotels) to us. Tonight I went to drop her off and there place stank and my mom discovered the dog had diherrea all over her room. It was about 9 pm and luckily the host / owner was awake but hadn't smelled or noticed this. The host got to work yelling at my mom about how it wasn't the dog's fault and she shouldn't have moved the chair outside which blocks the dog door. My mom never went in the back yard / didn't touch the chair. The host eventually realized it was most likely the gardeners who did this to keep the dog from bothering them while they worked, but never moved the chair back. Anyway, she got to work cleaning my moms room (carpet) but the crap was everywhere and I said "you can't stay here". The host just sort of looked at us. She then asked what time tomorrow my mom would be back and said the room would be "perfect" by then. Unless she's replacing the carpet tomorrow I doubt it. So, I said "I think we need to see the condition of the room tomorrow before moving forward but she clearly can't stay here tonight." The host said nothing. My mom is now sleeping on an airmatress on the floor in our living room -she's in her mid-70s and this isn't what I would choose for her. I found the booking (my parents don't know area well) but my dad made the booking for my mom. He is currently on international travel. Is there a way to go straight to Airbnb to request a refund or will he have to try to deal with this lady first? Even if the room is clean, she seemed a bit unhinged tonight and I'm not sure about my mom staying there. I wanted her to get all her stuff tonight and leave, but the lady was cleaning then poop while my mom basically stepped over her to grab pjs and get out of there. Is there any arbitration I can begin on my mother's behalf or do I have to wait for my dad? I'm feeling bad since I found the option.
