Things are really getting ridiculous. Now some illegal immigrants are suing Georgia University because they were denied admission on the grounds they are in this country unlawfully. Apparently, the illegals think that since Obama has protected them from deportation, they are also entitled to be admitted to our state schools (and at the in-state rate, too). And before you liberals jump to their defense, remember that for every law-breaking immigrsnt who gets in, a law-abiding American student gets kept out. I for one would like to see preference given to our OWN citizens, and not people who are in this country illegally. https://www.campusreform.org/?ID=8159
OP, it is totally ridiculous. If high school students have the grades to be accepted, then they've been in this country for years, since they were very young, going to US schools, acting like Americans. We need to act, not just put it off. We need to either normalize their status (which Obama attempted to do), or deport all of them. If you're in favor of deportation, then you need to start making phone calls, writing letters. Even Trump has realized that deportation is infeasible and a bad idea, sending all of these college bound students out of our country, generating ill will, harming them for actions undertaken by their parents and for actions not undertaken by our government.
You forgot to mention the average hard-working American families who can barely afford college for their own children but will be footing the bill; however, I'm sure you were thinking of them.
I went to state school on loans, like most people. My parents didn't pay for my college. What hard working American families are you referring to?
From my jobs working in a large public school system, I know that there are many families who struggle to work to pay for college tuition for their kids. If you're not aware of that fact, I wouldn't know how to prove it to you on an anonymous forum.
