That's awful. Here's the MCPD press release: Detectives Investigate Rape of Teenager in Sandy Spring Area Detectives from the Special Victims Investigations Division are investigating the Thursday, September 15 sexual assault of a teenager that occurred while she was walking in the Sandy Spring area. To protect the victim, the Department is not releasing the victim’s age. On September 15, officers were called to investigate the report of a sexual assault that had occurred between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. Detectives spoke with the victim, who reported that she was approached by a male while she was walking in the area of Olney-Sandy Spring Road (Route 108) in the Sandy Spring area. The suspect, using no words, directed the victim to a grassy area located off of Olney-Sandy Spring Road. The suspect then raped the victim. The victim returned home and reported the assault to her parents. Police were notified of the assault and responded to the hospital where the victim was receiving medical treatment. Detectives continue to work to confirm additional details about the suspect and sexual assault. As additional information is confirmed, it will be provided to the community. Anyone with information about this sexual assault is asked to call the Special Victims Investigations Division at 240-773-5400 or Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to their line that leads to an arrest in this case. Residents are reminded to immediately call 911 if they observe suspicious activity. —From a Montgomery County Police Press Release
