I feel bad that no one has replied. Does it help to know that I pay $21.99 every other week at one of the Rockville locations? Their memberships allow use of any Golds in the DC area, so prices are probably similar. They don't bill monthly anymore, because this way makes them more money.
You are paying way, way too much for a Gold's.
This was basically the same rate that I was quoted at a Rockville Gold's several years back. I think there is a $5 to $10 range per month. Can't remember if it had to do with paying a higher initiation fee and/or choosing a contract or going month to month. If it's a corporate gym, they have a family type of membership where it's a flat rate for up to five people or something like that and you can use any of the corporate gyms. I think the cost was about $100 to $120 per month. I think some of the Gold's Gyms that used to be Fitness Firsts, were still honoring the Fitness First rates, which were about $20/month. Not sure if they're still doing the same now. In the area that I was looking in (Rockville) and from looking at it at the times I did, which wasn't crowded at the time, while Gold's Gym might seem kind of pricey for what you get, there are some noticeable differences from gyms that might offer a little bit more for the money. The equipment is on a bit higher grade, the place is nicely organized and everything is where it should be, cleaner, the classes in session at the time weren't packed, etc. I tried waiting to see if they'd offer any better rates. Where the membership person would call following up but didn't really change much on the prices offered. But I'm not really a good negotiator to begin with.
