She's been heavily targeted by racist white men ever since the trailer for Ghostbusters came out. That was truly the beginning; it got worse by the time the movie was released. She really did nothing; she has always been a comedian but has never personally attacked anyone. When racists are tweeting pictures of gorillas to black people it's quite clear where they stand and nothing you do or don't do can set them off. The same thing happened to Normani from 5th Harmony; she was racially harassed (including pictures of lynched bodies with her face on it) by another groupmate's fans so much she quit Twitter.
