Agree with 14:16. It's a big public school. Kids are still coming in and registering. They have to wait until the almost last minute to schedule and hopefully avoid changes well into the first weeks of school. Honestly, I don't know what people expect of public schools anymore. They want what they believe to be a private school experience (limited, selective enrollment, set class schedules because the enrollment is set with deposits due in early spring, etc, etc) but of course they don't want to pay for it. And let me tell you, speaking from experience, many schools, whether public or private, have similar issues. It's an unreasonable, impossible expectation and I think it is rooted in our society's desire to somehow insist on the ultimate perfect school experience for their child, when it doesn't really exist anywhere. Having had two kids graduate from DCPS and my last one almost done, let me assure you, it will all be okay. Unpredictable calendars, some bad teachers, unruly classmates, whatever; DC kids do great in college and beyond Give your kids (and your probably enriching homes) a little credit. Sorry for the rant
