You are responding to me...I would want my parent there more than I would want the Other Person not there.  But I guess this is the sort of thing where you have to figure out where you are (I am totally against ending family relationships unless there is physical or emotional danger involved), draw your line in the sand, and deal with the consequences, whatever they are.
