I didn't do much research--one morning online was my limit--but gleaned that Miele machines are better made but more expensive/difficult to repair when they break. They also seem to be slightly more expensive. Bosch had more models at lower price points. Bosch still has the reputation of having the quietest machines out there.

If I were new to both brands, I would probably have picked a Bosch, but the resentment I'd built up over time to our Bosch led me to Miele.

We can't all be rational all of the time.
