OP.  Genocide is not descriptive of what is happening in Egypt, but I definitely think that ethnic cleansing is occurring in the rural regions.  And the police/government turn a blind eye to it.  Should we be giving aid to countries where this happens?  I would bet money that if the country's aid was on the line, this would be shut down in a quick minute by the government.

As it is, what happens in each incident:

Rumor/argument happens, Muslim mob burns down Christian churches/houses.
People are arrested, including people who were attacked
Government sponsors "negotiation" between Christian leaders and leaders in the town
Their conclusion (every single time): The Christians in the community need to abandon their property and leave, arrested people are set free without consequences.

This happens every time.  The Egyptian government is essentially a participant in the ethnic cleansing of these areas.[/quote]
