The windows in our house have simple sills underneath them but no trim/headers. We replaced our blinds with cordless levelor shades, and the lack of trim is really stark. We'd like to add trim and headers around the windows to frame them. Has anyone done this, or hired someone to do this? Any contractor recs for this in NWDC/Bethesda? Thanks in advance.
What is covering the top/sides of the opening now? Thin strips of drywall and corner beads? To do it right you will want to add wood trim to the casing as well as the border on the wall. That means removing the drywall and going down to the studs. If you simply put trim on top your nice new blinds wouldn't fit :D Price is completely dependent on what you want done, size of the window and condition of the existing trim. Simple, basic trim kits from Home Depot maybe $200-300 per window installed? Nice stained hardwoods much, much more.
