If she were as vapid and self centered as her character, there's no way she could write the character because she would have no insight.  She isn't her character; if she were, it would be a reality show instead of a scripted, plotted one.  Clearly many people think that she has talent and a fresh perspective because the show is popular.  Young women and young people in general often get themselves into messy, unpleasant situations.  Not all of youth is roses and puppies and happy endings.  Her show makes me cringe sometimes not because it's bad but because I've been in a few of the situations depicted, and they make me remember my younger, dumber self.[/quote]
