They have the same message. I keep repeating this over and over, but Presidential candidates don't pick clones. They pick someone that will bring something else to the table. I've said it before and will say it again, I think Tulsi Gabbard is the obvious choice (if it even gets to the point that Sanders gets to make a choice). She is female, in the military, served in Iraq, is reasonably strong on foreign policy, and an interesting ethnic mix. On the negative side, she is from a very small state (would rather have someone that could carry Ohio) and not all that well known. It also helps that Gabbard has been out front supporting Sanders.
