Most of us don't.  I'm guessing the PP can pick out shoes and purses for his wife.  That makes him either gay or a special snowflake.  To be fair, my wife really doesn't know what I want either.  She thinks she does, and I'll humor her, but when she asks me what I want she gets annoyed because it's not what SHE wanted to get for me.  [/quote]

A). I wouldn't buy shoes or a purse as a gift. Those things can just be purchased.

B). If you really have no clue, you are really pretty much ignoring her. Listening helps. I can't tell you how many times she's opened something and asked how I knew and the easy answer is she had said something and I actually listened.
