No sense of the date either. But I was rather annoyed to get that email the other day for summer school for TJ. It made me think - if you get in I don't think I really want you to go! It's one thing to take your personal finance over the summer or make sure you have wiggle room for band - but the email made is sound like summer school was almost required! When did summer school become mandatory for TJ? As a TJ applicant my kid is already in Hn Geometry & WLII - that's 4 high school credits - I don't want to rush growing up!
Agree with it's insane If you want to do band or strings though, there is no way around doing summer school to get the social studies credit, since TJ adds an extra class the the freshman lineup. We had looked at PE in summer school, but the other thread convinced me that that would be a huge headache, especially since DC hates to exercise.
Summer school is necessary for kids who want to do band or strings, just because there are so many required courses at TJ. Kids who aren't doing music don't absolutely need to do summer school. I know a number if kids who never did summer school at TJ. I wrote about my own kid on the other thread about summer PE. He did a variety of activities each summer, but never summer school. I think he did better during the school year because his summers were a time away from the stresses of the academic year.
