My relationship with my mil is essentially over because of her bad behaviour, but dh wants to maintain one and I don't interfere. We usually vacation somewhat near her during the summer (she lives an hour outside of a resort area), and dh will take the kids to have lunch with her while I do my own thing. I've washed my hands of it at this point. For me, I wouldn't host her at my house, but you have to do what makes sense to you. It's easier to think of her as simply a broken person when I don't have to interact with her anymore. [/quote]
