You're asking advice in the wrong place if you want a real world answer. People here are incapable of getting past greatschools ratings and FARM/ESL statistics. The reality is that your children can do fine in just about any school in Fairfax County. There are opportunities for children of all levels at every school. Find a home that will work for you, check out the schools personally to see what you think, and don't read too many posts on this forum.
+1 people here thing McLean and Langley are the only schools worth sending your kids to and you should rent a tiny one bedroom apartment in order to send your kids there rather than buy a smaller house or worse, let your kids go to school with an ~immigrant~. There are some shitty schools, yes, but there are others that are decent even if they aren't rich and a GS 10. Do your due diligence and honestly, try to find people to talk to in some of the neighborhoods in question and see how they like their schools and neighborhoods.
