If you have friend offering, then sure, tell them no if you really don't want a shower.  Please don't tell them no because you don't think you're worth the effort or expense.

Like some PP's have said you can alter the format a bit so you're not so much the center of attention -- 90% of the showers I've been to in the last 5 years have been some version of co-ed/no games/no present opening/casual cookout/you get the idea.[/quote]
