Contact School my friend. The School also just don't want to spend resources on evaluating kids with low scores. Where there is a Cutoff. they should shed some light as to what scores kids can submit referrals. Say less than 128 cannot submit referrals. That's fine. but there is no clarity. they need to be more clear.
Anyone can submit referrals, and there are many kids who may perform poorly on the COGAT and NNAT but have an extremely high WISC who will get in on that basis. I don't think the schools need to set cutoffs, but I do think the schools should provide some feedback on whether they think a parent should refer a particular kid, based on their observations of the kid in school. It seems that some schools do this. Our school does not. The staff (both teachers and AART) seem to be under some kind of a gag order from the principal that prohibits them from giving any indication of whether a kid would be right for AAP or whether the school will support the kid's candidacy (in the form of a helpful GBRS and commentary). It is just counterproductive in my view.
