I am a successful person with a great family but have spent the past four years with depression. After two years I began seeing a counselor, but nothing really helped until I started medication six months ago. The positive results happened almost overnight. I know different people experience different results, but I would encourage anyone facing depression to at least speak with a professional about medical options.
I totally agree with this. I have struggled with depression and anxiety on and off my entire adult life. It wasn't until I was diagnosed with post partem depression and went on Zoloft that things really started to improve. Like PP, I started seeing results almost immediately. I've seen a big improvement in my work performance, and I'm a better mother, wife, sister, friend, etc. My only regret is that I didn't go on meds much, much sooner. The difference is amazing. The stigma against antidepressants is such a shame; they help millions of people and have the potential to help millions more.
