Chirp, chirp, chirp...the "need" to talk is CONSTANT. EVERY bit of peace and quiet must be filled with CHATTER. "Well, I've already told you this, but..." "I know you've heard this story, but..." I haven't heard an original opinion, story or anecdote from these people in seven years. It's THE SAME CONVERSATION. I'm living in the movie "Groundhog Day."
I feel your pain. We don't watch TV in our house-- like ever (long irrelevant story that has nothing to do with s being Duggar clones and a lot to do with kids who had sensory processing issues when they were little). So we are all used to it being very QUIET. We talk, we read, we play games, kids play Minecraft on kindles. It works for us. My FIL gets here and immediately pulls out his laptop with the oversized screen and starts streaming anything he can find (preferably football games) as loudly as possible, 24/7. It drives DH, DCs and I nuts. DCs can't sleep. I get there are the couple of Christmas Day football games you want to see, or whatever. But can't you also try spending some time with your family instead of glued to a screen? And the incessant noise is grating....
