I've been temping, using the methods from TCOYF and the fertility friend app. Unfortunately, my temp chart just looks like a mess, my temps seem to be all over the place. I typically wake up at the same time every day but I'm usually dozing and drifting in and out for about an hour or two prior. I'm not sure if my dozing is throwing off my temps and whether or not I should count it towards the sleep for two hours before temping rule. It's also entirely possible it's just a sign of anovulation and the charting is accurately showing a lack of pattern. Should I start waking up a couple hours early to temp instead or just keep temping at my normal wake up time and see if I'm missing a pattern? I'm not seeing the changes in cervical mucus that I would have expected either, fwiw, but I think it's due to my own miscategorization. Last month I had what I could swear was EWCM a few days after my period then again right before my period. I don't think I've ever felt so incompetent.
Some women's temps will be thrown off by dozing, others won't. It's possible that yours will be. You should aim for 3 hours of consecutive sleep before you temp. If you're drifting in and out of sleep starting around 5 AM (for example), just set your alarm and take your temp at 5 AM. Then go back to sleep until you're ready to wake for the day. Another thing I found helpful was switching to vaginal temps. I found it to be a bit more stable than my oral temps. I wouldn't worry much about OPKs; I had a lot of trouble reading them too. Have you tried the Clearblue digitals and/or the Clearblue fertility monitor? That might be a better option for you. Oh, and it took me several months to really figure out my CM pattern. Mine doesn't look exactly like what's in the TCOYF book and I spent hours on Google trying to find similar CM. Are you checking internally? That helped me tremendously. I never had any CM on toilet paper unless it was my most fertile day, and then I might see a little bit of EWCM. But even that wasn't a guarantee. I'd start checking up at your cervix daily -- you might be surprised at how much you find up there! If you try these things and you still haven't conceived in another 3-4 months, it's time to head to a doctor. But hopefully that won't be necessary for you. Best of luck.
Yea, I'm going to start temping at 5:30 when my husband gets up as that's when I normally start my dozing. Hopefully that will give more accurate results. I'll also switch to vaginal temping next cycle just to be extra accurate. I've been holding off on the clear blue digital because everytime I consider buying it, I think "well what if this month I get pregnant without it and then it would be a waste of money!" Up until now, I've just been using the Wondfo pee sticks which are ALWAYS negative, I've never once gotten a positive result. I think I just need to suck it up and buy the digital monitor since nothing else is working.
Try these first: http://www.amazon.com/Clearblue-Digital-Ovulation-Test-Count/dp/B002VLYAOI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1449244559&sr=8-1&keywords=clearblue+digital+opk Cheaper than the full Clearblue monitor but they give the same info. 20 sticks should last you at least 2 cycles, maybe even 3. If you don't get a smiley face on these after a few months and temping isn't showing a clear ovulation pattern, it's probably time to check with the doctor. I had issues with the Wondfo OPKs as well. At 8 months of TTC without clear positives on Wondfos, I wouldn't even bother with them anymore. Keep us posted on how things go.
Thanks for the link, I wasn't aware there was a less expensive option available. I'll switch to using these next cycle and see if I have any better luck.
