Yup. I'm a teacher. I was a career changer who felt no satisfaction from my former desk job. It's hard not to get wrapped up in everything teaching involves so I constantly need to remember that it's my job, not my life. My family and friends give my life meaning. But it's nice to feel like I'm making a difference when I go to work as well.
How did you make the transition to teaching? Do you teach secondary? I have a degree in English and did almost enough Ed classes for a minor in Ed. (I also have a graduate degree -- but not in education.) Anyhow, I sometimes wonder what it would take to just do a complete career change and teach. When I was a freshman in college, my plan was to be a teacher. But I changed my mind. That was the right call for my younger self. But I think that teaching my be a good fit for me now. And did you have to start at the starting salary for a teacher or were you able to start a little higher? Just curious. TIA
