The earlier start date is hinted at in the 2017-2018 calendar, not 2016-2017. There was no discussion of the earlier start date regarding the 2016-2017 school year. Yes, the BOE did change this year's calendar in the spring, but it was due to the State of Maryland changing the date of the Maryland primaries. The MCPS altered the timing of a teacher workday to make it fit the spring break schedule a little better. [/quote]
