Miele. Top rack for silverware took a bit of getting used to but now I wouldn't have it any other way. Super clean, dry and silent.
OP said mid-range, not overpriced and overrated. I bought a Maytag ( http://www.lowes.com/pd_595159-46-MDB8969SDM_1z10e4l__?productId=50210123&pl=1&Ntt=maytag+dishwasher ) last year when I had the kitchen redone and it works like a dream. Don't underestimate the built-in food disposer. Most dishwashers expect you to clean out a disgusting filter periodically (the Mieles are known for that). This Maytag does not have a filter that needs cleaning. If I had one complaint, it's that the wash cycle takes 2.5-3 hours. Old dishwashers only took an hour but all the new Energy-star ones now have super-long cycles. Still beats washing them in the sink.
