I also have never bought diamonds from a local store. I strongly recommend Blue Nile or White Flash for finding and buying loose stones. I've never bought a stone from Blue Nile, but a few from White Flash. Both are good, however, as I know people who have bought good quality stones from Blue Nile at competitive prices.

Due to the market value of diamonds, they are graded and sold in such a way that you have no need to see the actual stone before making the purchase. Absolutely none. As long as you get a stone certified by AGS or GIA, you can be very certain of the quality of the diamond you will get. All of the diamonds I've purchased have been sight unseen, and they all have been stunning.

Go browse the multitude of settings available to you in a bewildering array of designs. Pick out the setting you like, then find a raw stone that will fit. You will end up with a ring that looks great and at a much lower price than what you can find locally. [/quote]
