For me it just comes down to my gut telling me that we can always scale back savings in the future if/when life throws us a curve ball (job loss, unanticipated medical needs, parents needing support, kids with unanticipated and expenseive needs), but we will NEVER be able to go back in time and catch up if we don't save the max now.  We haven't started saving for college, so that could be one thing we divert savings to in 16 years or so.  HHI $230 FWIW[/quote]
