The idea is that you'll get right in the mix, playing the bells, singing the songs, etc.  In this way we model participation - but you also don't take your baby's hands and force them to shake the bell, etc - they need to be moved to do it, but of course most will if they see everyone else participating.  So be prepared to participate, not have a coffee klatch.

Also, the ones I've participated in (in NY, with my sister when her children were young) were more separated by age - until 2nd babies got involved, then there were infants with the 3 year olds, etc.  But there aren't necesssarily 5 year olds with the 8 month olds - those kids are in preschool or kindergarten.

The curriculum and concepts of Music Together are really wonderful - very developmentally appropriate.  My niece really began noticing sounds after taking the music togegher classes - of course we'll never notice if she would have noticed it otherwise, of course!  But for example when the slight beep beep happened when a door was opened (alarm system on door) she would immediately turn toward it, then starting pointing to it, then said 'beep beep' or 'door' - she knew someone had opened a door.  She just seemed very tuned into sounds.

You'll get a different CD for each session - I remember the "bells" one - the music is lovely, interesting, varied, it's not hours on hours of Raffi and the Wiggles!  (thank god)  [/quote]
