It is best to do Behind the Wheel after he has done the 45 hours of driving with you (15 of which are at night- that is the one that was harder for us to accumulate) AND 9 months after he received his permit. That way they can give you the temporary license then and there and you don't have to track them down in a few months. You and your DC have to go the the Judge on the date the state sets to get the permanent one- 6-9 weeks after. You don't get to choose the court date it is sent to you- you can defer once - before it becomes a hassle. [/quote]
