DC just got called out as being the most expensive place to raise a family, largely because of the unbelievable childcare costs. $1100 is really low for daycare around here. I pay $1200 at a home daycare and it's so "unheard of" low that I don't share the provider's info for fear of a storm of people headed her way ;) Half-day, part-time preschools are "cheaper" in that one month costs less there than at daycare. But no, preschool is not going to be cheaper on a hourly basis when comparing full time daycare to full time/extended care preschool. I would expect to pay as much or more than what you pay now.
