But, I suspect that the thread in question did not start out as a "smear campaign" of Watkins. Or, if you are referring to the 100-page monstrosity, I have no idea how it started out. If a thread has another original purpose, I am likely to remove inappropriate posts, but allow the thread to continue serving its original purpose.

I also wouldn't call the Hearst thread that I locked a "smear campaign". Rather, it just seemed like a poster expressing somewhat understandable frustration about a topic, the details of which really aren't appropriate for public discussion.
