Once the child is reading on a higher level, I can see how you could ask questions about what they have read, etc., but I don't see how you can teach early readers without the child reading aloud. In my experience, it was a lot more difficult to get the child to read silently than aloud. Perhaps, the 504 plan says that the child does not have to read aloud in front of other kids? [/quote]
