you stand with your back against the hinges with the door open.  If the door swings to the left it is a left handed door.  If it swings to the right it is a right handed door.

Lol, no it's not.  I've been in the interior design business for twenty years and nobody, not one architect, builder, contractor, manufacturer would say a door is left or right handed.  If the knob is on the left side or the right side you'll still open it with your favored hand.  It has to do with how it opens into your space.[/quote]
