Well, it is. Why shouldn't it be? Teachers work in the same school their own children attend, why shouldn't someone be able to sub?
Subs aren't held to the same standards for professionalism and confidentiality as regular teachers. I'm a classroom teacher and I've had parents sub in my room. One was caught snooping in my filing cabinet (no reason to look in there), and others have been heard to gossip about the students and staff at neighborhood parties based on what they saw in the classroom and snippets of conversations that they heard while being in the teacher's lounge or office.
Absolutely true and as a parent I've observed this kind of behavior from parents who sub. But without them, there simply wouldn't be enough subs. So there's almost no right answer.
FCPS has a lot of subs. There are over 100 schools. Parents who sub should pick one that their kids don't go to.
