It's impossible to compare. Depends on county codes. Does yours have to be freestanding or not? 2 feet high? 20 feet high? Regular rectangle? Multiple facets? Plain? Fancy?
Fairfax county - about 10 to 15 feet high. One set of stairs from deck to patio downstairs. The deck itself is one floor only. Rectangle, one side attached to the house. Plain deck (I'm putting trex on it, but buying the material myself). I must say that initially I got a quote for $4800 to change the 30y old floor boards, railing and steps. I was going to keep the structure because it was still good. However, in the process I found out I needed to have a permit for this as well from the county and because of that, the deck would not pass inspection because being 30y old, is no longer up to code. So we had to take it all out and replace the whole freaking thing. The only advantage of having had a deck before was that we didn't need to do any studies/surveys to see if a deck would even be allowed in our lot. I just want a ballpark figure to see if the new quote I got is within range. Tia!
