You'd take medical advice from Internet strangers but not a doctor?
The package says do not exceed 10mg in 24 hours for a child. The doctor made the suggestion like "you could try..." as he was just listing all sorts of ideas. I didn't think it was a big deal until I read the package.
21:01 here-- IME it is not unusual for a dr to tell you to it's ok to exceed the OTC recommended limits for some medications. ISTR at one point I had a script for a high dose of zantac and my SO had a script for a high dose of ibuprofen. I would definitely take the advice of a dr over the instructions on the box (but as I said my own allergist gave me the same recommendation of 10 mg 2x a day).
OP here. Thanks. This is helpful. I take 10mg in the morning and on a really, really bad day might then take Benadryl at night, but I am a full grown adult. Between the package and the fact my kid took more zyrtec than I did today I second guessed my choice to try this suggestion.
