Look, McCain wasn't a great student at Annapolis and wasn't a great/care pilot by all accounts. It's absolutely possible that a more conscientious pilot wouldn't have been shot down. But that doesn't matter at this point. The man spend 5 years as a POW, and 2 years in solitary. He refused to be released until all of his comrades were also let go. There are many things you can say about McCain, but he deserves respect for what he went through. I have no problem calling him a war hero, and I'm not one of those folks who calls every veteran a hero. [/quote]
